Frequently Asked
Questions
The
purpose of First Baptist Church is to become a people for
God, who glorify God, as in love they live out His
Word
through the power of the Holy Spirit, until the Lord Jesus
comes again.
First Baptist Church is a
congregation of nearly 1,000 people coming together
to grow in Christ. We offer several worship service options,
numerous Small
Group home meetings, service opportunities,
children's programs, student ministries, college ministries,
missions programs, programs for seniors and a young adult
ministry program.
What
should I expect on a Sunday morning?
As you walk through the
doors of FBC, someone will greet you with a smile and offer
you a copy of our weekly
bulletin which includes the order of the service,
announcements of upcoming programs and a calendar of events.
Make your way into the
sanctuary and sit anywhere you like. You may have a person
or two welcome you or introduce themselves. But, we will not
have visitors stand or be recognized in any way. Relax and
enjoy the service.
How long will the service last?
You can
plan on most services at First Baptist to last about an
hour. Our contemporary service at 11AM tends to go about 75 minutes
to allow more time for music and interaction.
What
should I wear on a Sunday morning?
What
makes you comfortable? Some of our folk like the
opportunity to dress up a bit on Sundays, while others who
wear suits and professional clothing all week, like to be more comfortable. You'll see everything from jeans and
t-shirts, to some suits and ties in our midst on Sunday
mornings. Come as you are and we'll just be glad you are
here!
Will
someone ask me for money?
That's
a fair question ... we know the reputation and the
perception that churches take a lot of offerings. We will
take an offering in every service. It's how we pay the
bills. Plus, we believe it gives us a chance to give a
portion back to God. All we ask of you is that you consider
dropping a visitor information card in the plate when it
passes by so that we can know you were with us. Please don't
feel like you need to put money in the plate. The offering
opportunity is for our regular attendees.
Will
someone ask me to stand up or single me out?
We will
not ask visitors to stand or be recognized or singled out.
We want you to relax and enjoy our Worship Service. You may
have a person or two welcome you individually or introduce
themselves to you.
What
do I do with my children?
You'll
find First Baptist to be a family-friendly place. We have a
number of Nurseries for infants, toddlers and youngsters.
Please
stop by and feel free to look around. When you
leave your child in one of our nurseries, you will receive a
vibrating pager that will allow our nursery attendants to
call you should your child need your attention. After the
service is over, only the person who signed your child in
will be allowed to retrieve him/her from the nursery. We
take your child's safety and comfort very seriously. For
elementary-school-aged children, we offer alternate programs
during each service. If you have children in grades 6-12 you
will want to investigate our student ministry program at

Are there other people in my stage of
life at First Baptist?
The
links on the left-hand side represent programs and groups
for children, teens, 20-35 years, men, women and seniors. We have
active groups for every age. Our desire is to see you find a
place to connect in a caring community.
