WANTED:  Great family recipes!

We are publishing perhaps the first-ever First Baptist Church Family Cookbook, and we want you to be a part of it!  Look through your recipes and share them with us.  You may submit as many recipes as you want.  Please make sure to finclude:

  • Name
  •  Recipe—please carefully proofread your recipe as we will print them  as received.  Legible handwriting is greatly appreciated.
    ·       Please submit your recipes by May 4th.  You can e-mail them to sallieg3@maine.rr.com.  There will also be a box in the foyer marked “First Baptist Church Family Cookbook Recipes” if you’d rather drop them off there.
  •  Optional—you may include any comments about your recipe such as why it is a special recipe for you, special occasions when you serve the recipe, where you got the recipe from, etc…We will print these anecdotal comments as space allows.

Note:  If several recipes for the same item are received, they may not all be printed.  We want our cookbook to include as many different recipes as possible.  If you have any questions, please contact Shara Linscott, Ali Strayhorn, Carolyn Verrill or Sallie Gardner.

We are excited to put this special book of recipes together and raise money to send our students back to serve in New Orleans this summer.

What is Your Ministry?

No matter what your age, Jesus calls you to get involved in His work by serving others. It is amazing how much we grow when we put our faith in action!

We believe God would have us impact Greater Portland with His love and we want to help you discover your purpose in His plan. Whether it be reaching out to the needy, teaching children, working in our media ministry to broadcast our services or leading a small group, we have a place for you.

Are you good with odd jobs? How about serving here at First Baptist to keep our facility looking good? There are always plenty of jobs that need tackling and we would be glad to find one to fit your schedule and talents.

Perhaps you could consider teaching a class for several weeks or opening your home for a bible study. That would be wonderful! Pastor Mike is always looking for people who will host small groups for a period of time.

Do you wish someone would reach out to your college student from a local church near their school? We have thousands of college students right here whose parents are praying for the same for their kids. Might the Lord use you to answer those prayers?

You will be amazed at what the Lord teaches you when you step out and start serving Him. Call the church office at 207-773-3123 or email Pastor Scott at scott@firstbaptistportland.org and he'll be glad to point you in the right direction so that you can get connected.
