Adult Choir

Ministry Statement

As a choir it is our desire to assist the pastors and other members of the worship team in fostering  an atmosphere conducive for worship and praise in the congregation. We strive to act as witnesses for Christ and ambassadors for First Baptist, in order to point people to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

About Us
We are a group that strives to glorify God. Among us we have different levels of ability and talent. Not all of us can read music, not all of us are soloists. The goal as His servants is a group effort, not an individual outcome. And as only God can, he blends the many voices and devoted hearts to accomplish His perfect will.

Serving as worship leaders and focusing on the needs of our congregation has also strengthened the unity among us. We are not just a group that comes together on Thursday evenings to practice. We are ministers to each other as well. Our prayer times not only prepare us for our ministry on Sunday, but bond us together as we lift each others' burdens in confidence and praise.

Our Leadership Team

Choir Director, Ross Bertran

Our choir is under the direction of Ross Bertran. As video production is his full time vocation, he enjoys opportunities to share his knowledge and abilities in areas of Christian service.

The choir is represented by an elected council. A representative is selected by each vocal section. The section leaders serve and support their section. They also bring any issues their group may have to the choir council. Each leader notifies their group of schedule changes and prayer requests.

Some of the Essentials

Rehearsal Times:
Thursday Evenings 6:45 pm - 8:45 pm approximately
     Sunday Mornings 8:30 am

Committment
We ask that each member commit to a semester:
     (September - January / February - May)

Member Information:
Each member is asked to complete a form that provides us with basic information. This will help us in    contacting you with upcoming events and schedule changes. We also like to notify each member when there is a special need for prayer. The form also states that the member acknowledges and agrees with our church's Statement of Faith.

So what do we do for fun?
The choir participates in several events annually. Some of the performances have included Christmas By The Bay, the Martin Luther King Celebration, our Easter Praise Service and the Multi-Church Christmas Program. We also sung  at the Saco Bible Baptist Church and Rumney Bible Conference.

We enjoy socializing together at our Annual  Christmas Choir dinner. Through the year we try to include pot luck suppers and a summer get together before the choir season ends. We always remain open for new ideas for time together and opportunities for worship.

Parting Thoughts
As you think about this ministry, please pray, as we do, for God's direction. Our choir members would enjoy the chance to tell you more about  us, and share what choir means to them.
